What does it REALLY take to differentiate yourself and become indispensable?

One of my key areas of focus is helping creators and entrepreneurs to think better, be more creative and differentiate themselves from their peers. As part of my ongoing research, I review the latest thinking of many well-respected productivity and self-improvement experts.

One of those people is the prolific Tim Denning, an Aussie writer who left the corporate world a few years ago to become a solopreneur and never looked back. He now has millions of followers on Medium and LinkedIn and his opinions and strategies are always top-notch.

Well, almost always…

Denning recently posted a Medium article entitled Here’s How to Outperform 99% of People at Work. It suggests 8 ways to improve your odds of adding enough value to your work to avoid replacement by AI. Here’s what he recommends:

  • Act like a business owner.
  • Head down. Talk less. No gossip.
  • Say no to more meetings.
  • Self-educate after hours.
  • Quit using buzzwords.
  • Do things outside your job title.
  • Do more for the customer than anyone else.
