Content creators: Are you on a fast track to irrelevance?

In today’s hyper-competitive environment, average writing doesn’t cut it.

The number of tools and platforms that writers can use to capture, nurture and publish their ideas, knowledge and stories has never been larger. Because of that, a huge number of people are utilizing low-cost platforms like Medium, Substack and Wix to publish a tidal wave of content.

Quality varies widely, of course.

But this tsunami of content also has a major downside: It’s becoming harder and harder to capture and retain the attention of your target audience.

The people you’re trying to influence with your content are barraged by an endless assault of emails, social media posts, ads, podcasts, videos and more, all clamoring for our attention.

As a result, they’re are getting much more selective at what the devote their attention to — and they’ve gotten very good at filtering out everything else.

If it’s not immediately relevant, they’ll ignore it.
