4 radical steps to draw forth your best thinking — any time, anywhere

In a recent Medium article, writer Camille Prairie pointed out that most people can only create when they feel inspired — when the “muse” taps you on the shoulder an gets your synapses firing to deliver amazing insights and ideas.

If you want to make a difference in the world, this approach isn’t reliable or scalable.

Prairie shares four hard-won lessons from her own experience for courting her creative muse (accept where you are, declutter your brain, find other ways to be creative and wait, productively). While these are somewhat useful, I don’t believe they go far enough. Like the ad hoc approach — “I’ll create when inspiration hits me” — these ideas are only an incremental improvement.
