Are you killing your curiosity?
If you engage in these activities, you may be undermining your curiosity without even realizing that you’re doing so:
- Conducting Google searches and only consuming the concise summaries at the top of its search results.
- Using AI tools to create content for you.
- Filling the majority of your mental downtime with entertainment (music, social media, TV/movies, gaming, etc.).
- Prioritizing virtual over in-person meetings with people
Curiosity drives growth. It’s the engine of innovation. But some of your habits may be blunting it without you realizing it.
I recently came across a quote in a Mark Schaefer article that got me thinking:
“Today, we take recommendation engines for granted, whether it’s Netflix, TikTok, or another place we enjoy content. These algorithms serve a useful purpose by helping us cut through seemingly infinite choices. We happily let a machine feed our content habits.”
